The Saga Begins

Background
I grew up in a fishing family. From before I could remember I was spending time in boats while my mother and father fished. Water gurgling against an aluminum hull was to me what those ocean sound machines they make for babies are nowadays.

When I was ten years old my dad brought home a 1972 Lund S-16, powered by a 25 Horse Johnson. It got a lot of use over the years. In the 90's it was stored outside all summer long on a boat lift at a family cabin and suffered from a lot of weathering. From the late 90's onward it was mostly in storage, as my dad was too old to use it anymore and it was eventually was sold to my sister, who never got it out either.

This Summer I changed all that.

I am purchasing the boat, virtually a family member for the past 30 years, from my sister. It is already home and in my garage. What's to follow then, is the story of this boat as I slowly bring it back to seaworthiness, restore it cosmetically and modernize it with some creature comforts.

Whoever you are reading this, I thank you for visiting and I hope that you get something out of your visit. I would love to hear your cheers, jeers and unsolicited advice.

Thanks and enjoy.

Terry
